Mahindra XUV 7XO Launched: Price, Features Revealed

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially launched the highly anticipated XUV 7XO in India today, January 5, 2026. This marks a significant milestone as the SUV is a comprehensive facelift of the popular XUV700 and adopts the brand's new 'XO' naming strategy, following the XUV 3XO.

Refreshed Design and Premium Interiors

The new XUV 7XO arrives with substantial styling updates, as previewed in multiple teasers. The front fascia features a redesigned grille and new C-shaped LED headlamps. A distinctive design element is the 7-shaped Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) that wrap around the headlamp cluster, complemented by trapezoidal LED lighting elements. The rear gets sharper tail-lamp elements, and the SUV is expected to roll on a new set of alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin receives a massive tech upgrade. The highlight is a triple-screen dashboard setup, inspired by the flagship XEV 9S. This layout includes a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch screen for the co-driver. For audiophiles, Mahindra has equipped the SUV with a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos support. Other expected features include ventilated seats, powered front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, auto parking assist, and advanced connected car technology.

Familiar Powertrains and Booking Details

Under the hood, the XUV 7XO continues with the proven engine options from the XUV700. Buyers can choose between a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. These will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission choices. The automatic diesel variants in higher trims will also retain the all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. The SUV will be available in 5-, 6-, and 7-seat configurations to cater to different family needs.

Bookings for the XUV 7XO are already open across India. Customers can reserve their vehicle online or at any authorised Mahindra dealership by paying a booking amount of Rs 21,000. The company has indicated that deliveries for the new SUV are scheduled to begin from mid-January 2026, which promises a relatively short waiting period for customers who book early.

What This Launch Means for Mahindra

The launch of the XUV 7XO is a strategic move by Mahindra to rejuvenate one of its most successful models in the competitive SUV segment. By aligning its naming convention with the XUV 3XO and incorporating high-end features from the electric XEV 9S, Mahindra is streamlining its portfolio and elevating the perceived value of its combustion-engine lineup. The focus is clearly on offering a more premium, tech-laden experience while retaining the mechanical reliability of its popular powertrains.

With its updated design, cutting-edge cabin technology, and versatile seating options, the XUV 7XO is poised to strengthen Mahindra's hold in the premium SUV space. All eyes are now on the officially announced price, which will determine its competitiveness against rivals in the market.
