A tragic road accident occurred at Sunaga Cross near the Anagawadi KEB office on the Hubballi-Vijayapura national highway in Bagalkot on Saturday. A truck collided with an NWKRTC bus, resulting in the immediate death of two passengers and injuries to five others.
Details of the Accident
The mishap took place when the truck, allegedly driven by an inebriated driver, lost control and rear-ended the bus. The bus was traveling towards Vijayapura, while the truck was coming from the opposite direction.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Vani Desai, 26, a resident of Simikeri village in Bagalkot taluk, and Shivakumar Kadliwad, 25, a resident of Nargund in Gadag district. Both were seated in the back seat of the bus at the time of the collision.
Injured and Response
The injured passengers were rushed to the district hospital in Bagalkot for treatment. Additional Superintendent of Police Jagadish visited the accident spot to assess the situation. The Bilagi police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
