Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to address deficiencies, improve power supply, and prevent transformer overloading. The directive came during a review meeting on the energy sector, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and other officials.
Infrastructure for New Projects
The Chief Minister emphasized that with new industrial estates, high-speed rail corridors, and development projects such as the Regional Ring Road (RRR) coming up, officials should immediately commence construction of substations to meet the corresponding power demand. He stressed the need for proactive planning to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for these initiatives.
Green Energy Policy and Data Centres
As part of the state’s Green Energy Policy, the CM directed that approvals be granted to applicants on a priority basis. He also instructed officials to provide necessary clearances for large-scale data centres, which require substantial power. This move is expected to boost the state’s digital infrastructure and attract investments.
Solar Power for Women Self-Help Groups
The Chief Minister called for creating awareness among women belonging to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) about solar power and the promotion of solar stoves. He directed officials to establish solar power plants adjacent to substations to facilitate easy integration into the grid.
Pilot Project for Solar Plants
Under a pilot project, the CM ordered setting up solar power plants next to two substations in each of the erstwhile districts, wherever land is available. He appointed nodal officers for the construction of 18 solar power plants under this pilot project, which covers two plants per district across the nine erstwhile districts, excluding Hyderabad.
Dispelling Misconceptions
In addition, the Chief Minister instructed senior officials to dispel misconceptions among employees and staff regarding their integration into the Rythu Discom. He assured that the process would be smooth and beneficial for all stakeholders.
The meeting underscored the state government’s commitment to modernizing the energy sector through technology and renewable sources, aiming to meet future demands efficiently.
