LMC Develops Eco High-Tech Nursery on Kursi Road

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is developing a modern eco high-tech nursery on 1.2 hectares at Basaha on Kursi Road, where flowers, vegetables, and ornamental plants — including improved domestic and international varieties — will be cultivated, officials said on Monday.

Affordable Plants for Residents

Residents will be able to purchase high-quality plants at affordable rates from this nursery. The initiative aims to support city beautification projects, park development, and roadside plantation drives while also generating local employment opportunities linked to horticulture and nursery management, according to Mayor Sushma Kharkwal.

Advanced Facilities

The nursery will include automated seed sowing systems, germination chambers with controlled temperature and humidity, hardening chambers, polyhouses, shade-net houses, and poly-tunnels to protect saplings from extreme weather and pests. An open-field testing area is also being developed to assess the quality, adaptability, and resilience of plants before they are used for plantation drives and landscaping projects across the city.

Sustainable Energy Solution

The entire nursery will operate on solar power through a proposed 20KW off-grid solar energy system, making the facility environmentally sustainable and energy efficient. This aligns with the city's commitment to green initiatives and renewable energy adoption.
