Mitch Evans makes Formula E history with 16th win in Berlin

Mitch Evans secured his second victory of the 2026 Formula E season at the Berlin E-Prix Part 2, which also marked his fourth podium finish of the campaign. The win was particularly historic as it was his 16th career victory, making him the driver with the most wins in the history of the all-electric racing series.

A Historic Achievement

The victory came just days after Evans announced his departure from Jaguar TCS Racing at the end of the season. Speaking about the milestone, Evans praised his team for their support and execution of the race strategy. The New Zealander currently sits second in the Drivers' Standings, just three points behind championship leader Pascal Wehrlein.

Evans shared a video of his podium celebration on Instagram with the caption: "Victory #2 of the season. Beautifully executed @jaguarracing."

Race Strategy and Execution

Reflecting on the race, Evans explained: "That marks 16 wins now for me. Strategy-wise, we started towards the back, so we took a punt using a new set of tyres. I think that helped a bit, but also being patient in the race and letting it come to me. I saw a couple of drivers around me as Oliver [Rowland] went a bit earlier, but had good guidance from the team to stay patient and have one big attack at the end, and it paid off."

He credited the entire team: "In the car, you have to read the race well and get a feel for it, but I've got a great team behind me. We do a lot of preparation pre-race and during the race, and it's not just down to one person - it's a collective effort. Full credit to the team; it was a team effort today."

Evans added: "That was an amazing result after what's been a difficult weekend - and we worked hard for it. We've been struggling for one-lap pace here, so I wanted to try something different, which is why I saved tyres for the race today. The team backed me on that call, and then together we executed a perfect race. We were patient early on, then attacked at the right time, and I felt comfortable once we got to the front. Now we'll look to take this momentum to Monaco, which feels like a home race to me."

How Evans Won the Berlin E-Prix Round 8

Evans started the race from 17th on the grid after compromising qualifying to save tyres. By the end of the first round of Attack Mode activations, he had moved into the top six with more energy in hand than his rivals. His initial six-minute 350kW all-wheel-drive Attack Mode allowed him to take the lead on Lap 27 and build a two-second gap.

He fended off challenges from Oliver Rowland and Pascal Wehrlein during the second round of Attack Mode in the race's climax, ultimately securing the record-breaking 16th Formula E victory.
