A talented student team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) in Moodubidre has achieved remarkable national recognition at the highly competitive e-Yantra Innovation Challenge 2025-26, organized by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
Entrepreneurial Excellence Recognized with Dual Honors
The dedicated MITE team captured the distinguished 'Entrepreneurial Potential and Best Business Pitch Award' for their innovative agricultural technology project titled 'Multi-Crops Dehusker.' This significant achievement comes with both a substantial cash prize and an exclusive eight-week pre-incubation opportunity at e-Yantra, IIT Bombay, specifically designed for the team leader. This comprehensive support package provides a substantial boost to the startup potential and commercial viability of their groundbreaking agricultural solution.
National Competition with Rigorous Selection Process
The e-Yantra Innovation Challenge, which operates under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, actively promotes hands-on, project-based learning alongside domain-focused technical training. This important initiative is strategically designed to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup development among engineering students nationwide by providing them with practical resources to transform theoretical ideas into tangible, real-world solutions.
This year's intense competition attracted an impressive 323 teams from engineering institutions across the entire country. Following multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation, only 16 elite teams earned the distinction of being shortlisted for the grand finale hosted at IIT Bombay's campus. The MITE team successfully secured their position among these distinguished finalists, ultimately presenting their agricultural innovation on this prestigious national platform.
The Innovative Team Behind the Multi-Crops Dehusker
The award-winning 'Multi-Crops Dehusker' project was meticulously developed by mechanical engineering students Manoj Kumar BV, Deekshith K Gowda, Pradhyumna Murthy, and Swasthik. These innovative students worked under the expert guidance and mentorship of faculty members Shivaramu HT and Yuvaraj KB, whose support proved instrumental in refining their technical approach and business strategy.
