Apple is significantly strengthening its retail footprint in India's capital region with the announcement of a second store opening in Noida next month. This strategic move comes as the tech giant capitalizes on the exceptional performance of its existing Saket location, which has emerged as one of Apple's top-performing retail outlets globally.
Apple's Retail Expansion Accelerates in India
The upcoming Noida outlet will represent Apple's fifth retail store in India and its third launch this year alone, following recent openings in Bengaluru and Pune. Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice president of retail and people, confirmed these development plans during an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, additionally revealing that another Mumbai store is scheduled to debut next year.
The decision to establish a second presence in Delhi NCR follows compelling business justification. Apple's Saket store, which opened in April 2023, has proven to be an extraordinary revenue generator. The location contributed nearly 60 percent of the Rs 800 crore that Apple's first two Indian stores collectively generated during their inaugural year—an outstanding performance that captured significant attention within Apple's corporate leadership.
Saket Store Sets New Benchmarks
"This truly is a milestone year for Apple retail in the country," O'Brien told Moneycontrol. "We're thrilled to be opening our third store this year and to have the chance to connect with even more communities." The new Noida store is reportedly situated at Noida's DLF Mall of India, positioning it within one of the region's premier shopping destinations.
Apple's retail expansion coincides with the company's broader strategic pivot toward India as both a manufacturing and consumption hub. In a significant development, Apple now manufactures all iPhone 17 models within India—a first that O'Brien described as "a reflection of our deepening relationship with the country."
India Emerges as Strategic Growth Market
Financial data substantiates Apple's remarkable growth trajectory in India. According to regulatory filings accessed by Tofler, Apple's India revenue surged 18.26 percent to Rs 79,378 crore in FY25, while net profit climbed 16.4 percent to reach Rs 3,196 crore. The company has substantially strengthened its position in India's premium smartphone segment, now commanding a 28 percent value share, up from 22 percent the previous year.
Market analysts project that Apple will sustain double-digit growth for the next three to four years, driven by escalating iPhone demand in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, complemented by a rapidly expanding network of premium resellers supporting the company's retail initiatives.
This coordinated retail and manufacturing push underscores India's evolving significance within Apple's global strategy, transforming from an emerging market to an essential growth engine for the California-based technology behemoth.
