Bengaluru IT Couple Tragedy: Husband Found Dead, Wife Dies by Suicide
A quiet morning in north Bengaluru's Kothanur neighbourhood turned into a scene of profound tragedy when a 32-year-old IT engineer was discovered dead in his apartment. In a shocking turn of events, his wife died by suicide just minutes later by jumping from the 18th floor of the same residential complex, according to police reports.
Husband Found Unresponsive in Apartment
According to police officials, the woman, who was employed with an IT firm, had returned from Hyderabad earlier that morning. Around 7:30 AM, she alerted apartment security personnel after her husband failed to respond to repeated calls and did not open the bedroom door.
Security staff promptly broke open the door and discovered the man hanging from a ceiling fan. A handwritten note was recovered from the room, which police are currently examining as part of their investigation.
What Happened in the Critical 20 Minutes
Twenty minutes after Bhanu Chander Reddy was found hanging, his wife Bibi Shaziya Siraj jumped from the 18th floor of their apartment building. Police reports indicate that Reddy had previously worked in the United States for several years but lost his job last year amid widespread layoffs, some reportedly triggered by artificial intelligence advancements.
While Reddy had been struggling with unemployment since returning to India, Shaziya had secured a position with IBM. The couple, married for two years, had relocated to Bengaluru approximately eight months ago. Reddy's death note suggests he was deeply upset about multiple personal issues.
A Note Pointing to Significant Distress
Preliminary police findings suggest the man had been dealing with multiple stressors, including significant health concerns and anxiety directly linked to his prolonged unemployment situation. Investigators confirmed he had been searching for employment since returning to India while facing considerable financial strain.
Police officials stated that early findings indicate the man had been struggling with anxiety related to joblessness, along with mounting pressures in recent months that created a perfect storm of personal challenges.
Wife's Fatal Decision Within Minutes
After reading the note left by her husband, the woman remained in the flat for nearly 20 minutes as neighbors gathered and emergency calls were made to police and medical services. During this brief window, she reportedly left the apartment unnoticed, ascended to the 18th floor of the building, and jumped to her death. She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.
Recent Move and Private Marriage Details
The couple, originally from Telangana, had been married for over two years and moved to Bengaluru about eight months ago after the woman secured her position with the multinational corporation. Investigators revealed that the marriage had not been disclosed to the woman's family, which may have contributed to difficulties while the couple was living in Hyderabad before their relocation to Bengaluru.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Police are continuing their comprehensive inquiry, examining all circumstances leading up to the tragic deaths. This includes detailed analysis of the contents of the recovered note and thorough investigation into the couple's recent financial and personal challenges.
Officials emphasized that their investigation remains active as they work to understand the complete sequence of events and contributing factors behind this devastating incident that has shaken the Bengaluru community.
