Google Launches Pixel Upgrade Program in India: Get New Phone Yearly for Rs 3,333/month
Google's Pixel Upgrade Program in India: Yearly Phone for Rs 3,333

In a significant move to boost its presence in the competitive Indian smartphone market, Google has unveiled a pioneering upgrade program for its Pixel series. This initiative, a first for the tech giant in India, is designed to make owning premium Pixel devices more accessible and affordable for consumers across the country.

How Does The Google Pixel Upgrade Program Work?

The core offering allows customers to upgrade to a newer Pixel model every year after making just nine monthly payments. The program is built on a 24-month, no-cost EMI financing structure, with monthly payments starting at an attractive Rs 3,333. To facilitate this, Google has partnered with key Indian players: Cashify for device trade-ins and buyback, and Bajaj Finance Ltd. and HDFC Bank for the financing.

The process is streamlined for user convenience. After paying a minimum of nine EMIs (and before fifteen EMIs), a customer can choose to upgrade. They trade in their current Pixel device to Cashify. Remarkably, the program includes an assured buyback guarantee, which applies even if the phone has minor wear and tear, as long as it powers on and passes basic functionality checks.

Cashify then credits an amount equal to the customer's outstanding loan balance directly to their bank account. This allows the user to close the existing Bajaj Finance/HDFC Bank loan without any pre-closure penalties. Subsequently, the customer can enroll in a fresh 24-month no-cost EMI plan for the latest Pixel model, effectively resetting the cycle.

Eligible Models and Exclusive Perks

The upgrade program covers Google's latest flagship lineup. Eligible devices include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. To sweeten the deal, customers enrolling with an existing device for trade-in will receive an exchange bonus of up to Rs 7,000 from Cashify.

Furthermore, new purchases under this scheme come bundled with attractive trial subscriptions to Google's premium services. Buyers of Pixel 10 Pro models will get one year of Google AI Pro, six months of Fitbit Premium, and three months of YouTube Premium. The standard Pixel 10 model offers six months of Google One Premium (2TB storage) along with the same six-month Fitbit and three-month YouTube Premium trials.

A Strategic Move for the Indian Market

Mitul Shah, Managing Director for Devices and Services at Google India, emphasized the program's goal of democratizing premium technology. He stated that the initiative provides a "clear, worry-free path to upgrade your device" through flexible financial options. This program directly addresses a key consumer desire in India: access to the latest technology without the burden of a high upfront cost or the hassle of selling an old device.

The program is set to run until June 30, 2026, and will be available across select retail stores nationwide. This launch represents a strategic effort by Google to increase Pixel adoption in India, leveraging flexible finance and a guaranteed upgrade path to compete with other premium smartphone brands.
