Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company has energised a new 220 kV double-circuit transmission line from Power Grid Corporation's 765 kV Dhamdha substation to the state grid, significantly enhancing power supply capacity across five districts.
New Transmission Line Details
The newly commissioned Dhamdha-Gaindpur line is designed to substantially increase the capacity to receive power from the central grid, thereby making the electricity supply more reliable and quality-driven. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to benefit industrial, agricultural, and domestic consumers alike.
Official Statement
Transmission company Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Shukla stated that the successful charging and synchronisation of the 220 kV transmission line was completed from Power Grid's 765/400/220 kV substation located at Dhamdha-Medesara in Durg district. The double-circuit line will improve power exchange at four major 220 kV substations: Gaindpur (Kawardha), Mungeli, Bemetara, and Suhela.
Network Capacity Enhancement
With this addition, the number of available 220 kV lines for this particular network has increased from three to five. This expansion is a strategic move to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the districts of Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Mungeli, Bemetara, and Balodabazar-Bhatapara.
Technical Benefits
The enhanced system will maintain supply continuity even during technical faults on the route, thereby providing a more resilient power infrastructure. The project underscores the state's commitment to strengthening its power transmission network to meet growing energy demands and support economic development across the region.
