PM Modi Hails Gen Z for India's Space Sector Revolution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful tribute to India's Generation Z on Thursday, recognizing their significant contributions to the country's rapidly expanding space sector following the government's decision to open space exploration to private enterprises.

Youth Driving India's Space Revolution

During a virtual inauguration ceremony for Skyroot's Infinity Campus in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister emphasized how India's younger generation has embraced the opportunities created by the liberalized space policy. "India's youth puts the nation's interests first. They utilize every opportunity wisely," Modi stated, highlighting the proactive approach of young Indians in the space domain.

The Prime Minister specifically pointed to the remarkable growth of space startups across the country. "Today, India's more than 300 space start-ups are giving new hope to India's space future," he announced, underscoring the scale of innovation happening beyond traditional government space programs.

Gen Z Professionals Transforming Space Technology

Modi detailed the diverse contributions young professionals are making across various technical domains within the space industry. "Today, Gen Z engineers, Gen Z designers, Gen Z coders, and Gen Z scientists are creating new technologies, whether in propulsion systems, composite materials, rocket stages, or satellite platforms," he elaborated.

The Prime Minister expressed amazement at the rapid evolution of career opportunities in this field, noting that "India's youth are working in fields that were unimaginable just a few years ago." He also highlighted the growing international recognition of Indian space talent, stating that "India's private space talent is making its mark globally" and that "India's space sector is becoming an attractive destination for global investors."

Skyroot: Pioneering Private Space Achievements

The event showcased Skyroot Aerospace, recognized as India's foremost private space company. Founded by IIT graduates and former ISRO scientists Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, the company has already made significant strides in space technology.

According to a PMO statement, Skyroot created history in November 2022 when it launched the sub-orbital rocket Vikram-S, becoming the first private Indian enterprise to successfully send a rocket into space. This milestone achievement demonstrated the capability of private players to contribute meaningfully to India's space ambitions.

The Prime Minister's recognition of Generation Z's contributions comes at a significant moment for India's space ecosystem, as the country positions itself as a major player in the global space economy through a unique partnership between government initiatives and private sector innovation.
