Eight schools from Andhra Pradesh have been chosen for the prestigious Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) 2025 awards, a national initiative by the Government of India. The program emphasizes safe water management, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and environmental sustainability in educational institutions.
Announcement by State Project Director
Samagra Shiksha state project director B. Srinivasa Rao, IAS, announced the release of the national assessment results. The evaluation was conducted in alignment with the Centre's Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) framework. Only 191 schools nationwide received recognition, with Andhra Pradesh securing eight spots on the national honors list.

The recognized schools from Andhra Pradesh include:
- Zilla Parishad High School, Thadikalapudi (Eluru)
- Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Hiramandalam (Srikakulam)
- Municipal Primary School, Steamer Road (West Godavari)
- Zilla Parishad High School, Malicherla (Vizianagaram)
- KGBV, Anandapuram (Visakhapatnam)
- Mandal Parishad Primary School, Lingampeta (Anakapalli)
- Mandal Parishad Primary School, Jalumuru (Srikakulam)
- NATCO School of Learning, Ponnur (Guntur), the only private unaided institution among the awardees.
Recognition and Benefits
Congratulating the winning schools, Srinivasa Rao stated that this achievement reflects the state's commitment to promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and sustainable practices in school education. Each selected school will receive a composite school grant of ₹1 lakh, a national recognition certificate for excellence in sanitation and green initiatives, and an opportunity for the headmaster to participate in special exposure visits. These visits aim to study best practices adopted by leading educational institutions across the country.
