Rajkot: Three female students of a private nursing college near Tramba village were injured on Friday after a ceiling fan fell inside the library, triggering protests on campus over alleged negligence by the management.

The incident occurred around 10am when the fan reportedly detached from the ceiling and fell on the students. The injured — Rinku Deshani, Dhara Rathya and Asmita Vaghela — sustained head and forehead injuries and were rushed to a nearby private hospital. Doctors said all three required stitches but were discharged after initial treatment.

College declares vacation amid renovation plans

Following the incident, the college administration declared an immediate vacation and said renovation work would be undertaken, citing concerns over the building's condition.

Students protest against management

The incident triggered protests on campus, with students approaching the college chairman and demanding action against the management for alleged negligence. They also raised concerns over the poor condition of the college building, including the girls' hostel and other facilities.

No police complaint has been registered so far.
