Punjab's fastest sprinter Gurindervir Singh, who recently set a new national record in the 100m race, is preparing to represent India at the upcoming Commonwealth Games. As the athlete gears up for the event, his father has appealed to the Punjab Government to offer him a suitable job so that he can represent the state with pride in future tournaments.
National Record and Current Role
Gurindervir, currently serving as a Petty Officer in the Indian Navy, clocked 10.09 seconds in the 100m race, breaking the national record and becoming the fastest Indian ever. He belongs to Patial village in Bhogpur, Jalandhar.
Father's Appeal for Government Job
Gurindervir's father, Kamaljit Singh, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), told The Tribune that there had been discussions about posting his son as an Inspector, but no official confirmation had been received yet. "If he gets the job here, Gurindervir will represent Punjab," Kamaljit Singh said.
The father expressed hope that the state government would recognize his son's achievements and provide him with a suitable position, enabling him to continue competing at the highest level while serving Punjab.
