Minister Krishan Bedi emphasizes yoga and Gita's relevance
Haryana Cabinet Minister Krishan Bedi stated on Sunday that both the Bhagavad Gita and yoga inspire individuals to adopt self-restraint, discipline, and a positive lifestyle, urging everyone to move forward. Speaking at a district-level event at Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra in Kurukshetra to mark International Yoga Day, Bedi called on citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine.
The minister asserted that if every person embraces yoga, the vision of a healthy, aware, and drug-free Haryana will become achievable. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police Chander Mohan, and several other BJP leaders during the event.
Bedi pays obeisance at legendary banyan tree
Earlier in the day, Bedi paid obeisance at the legendary banyan tree in Kurukshetra, a site of historical and spiritual significance. He highlighted that Lord Krishna delivered the sermon of the Gita on this very land thousands of years ago, and its teachings remain as relevant today as ever.
“The message of both yoga and the Gita are to inspire humans to move forward. The theme adopted by the state for the day is ‘Yoga-Yukta Haryana, Nasha Mukt Haryana’ and to realise this resolve, every individual must first incorporate yoga into their own life,” said the minister.
Other leaders echo call for daily yoga practice
In Ambala, Haryana Minister Vipul Goel noted that around 190 countries were observing the International Day of Yoga. He urged all participants to practise yoga themselves, raise awareness among children about its benefits, and contribute to nation-building by maintaining good health.
Meanwhile, in Naraingarh, Congress MLA Shalley Chaudhary attended the subdivision-level celebrations. She emphasized that yoga’s importance should not be confined to just one day. “It should be made a part of one’s daily routine to contribute to the creation of a healthy, prosperous and positive society,” she added.
