Deputy Commissioner (DC) Himanshu Jain flagged off a mobile van in Ludhiana on Tuesday as part of the Punjab government's year-long programmes dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purb of Guru Ravidas. The van will tour villages across the district, screening a documentary that disseminates the message of the Guru's life, teachings and philosophy.
Van flagged off in Ludhiana
The flag-off ceremony took place in Ludhiana, with DC Himanshu Jain accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Narinder Singh Dhaliwal. The state government has deputed two specially designed documentary vans for the district, each covering two villages every day. The vans are equipped with LED screens to show a 30-minute documentary depicting the life, teachings and philosophy of Guru Ravidas.
Focus on equality and social justice
According to DC Himanshu Jain, the initiative aims to take Guru Ravidas' message of equality, social justice, devotion and universal brotherhood to the people. In the first phase, the vans will tour villages falling under the Samrala and Raikot subdivisions. The documentary will highlight key aspects of the Guru's spiritual journey and his emphasis on social harmony.
The programme is part of a broader state government effort to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purb of Guru Ravidas, with multiple events planned throughout the year. The mobile vans are expected to reach a wide audience in rural areas, ensuring the Guru's teachings are accessible to all.
