Kalaburagi: Two spotted deer jumped over the compound wall and escaped from an old mini zoo in a public garden in Kalaburagi city on Sunday, causing panic among residents. The deer ran into densely populated areas, creating confusion among locals as they moved towards nearby Vithal Nagar.
Residents alerted forest department officials after spotting the animals roaming on roads and in residential areas. In response, officials and staff rushed to the spot and launched an operation to safely capture them.
By Sunday evening, one deer got trapped inside a house compound and was rescued by the staff, who took it into custody. Another deer ran towards the Sharannagar area, prompting an extensive search by forest personnel. A third deer, which was hiding inside the compound of the RTO office attached to the mini zoo, was also captured on Sunday evening.
The forest department continued the operation to safely return the deer to the mini zoo, while efforts were on to locate the remaining animals. More details were awaited.
