Hakki-Pikki Family in Crisis in Africa

A family belonging to the Hakki-Pikki community from Karnataka is currently stranded in an African country and has appealed to the central government for assistance in retrieving their passports.

Before their three-month visa expired, the trio handed over their passports and approximately Rs 4 lakh to a local agent for visa renewal. However, the agent has not returned their documents or processed the renewal, leaving them in a precarious situation.

The family has urged the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene and help them recover their passports so they can return to India. The Hakki-Pikki community is a traditional nomadic tribe known for their hunting and gathering lifestyle.
