The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorms across several districts of Odisha this week. On Sunday, the IMD issued an orange warning for thunderstorm activities accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 kmph in at least 17 districts over the next three days starting Monday.
Yellow Warning Issued
Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for similar weather conditions in both coastal and interior districts, including Puri, Khurda, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur, until May 9. According to an IMD bulletin, daytime temperatures are expected to drop by three to four degrees Celsius over the next four days.
Recent Rainfall and Temperatures
In the last 24 hours, some areas experienced light to moderate rain or thunderstorms. Chhatrapur in Ganjam district recorded the highest rainfall at 76.2 mm. On Sunday, Boudh recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 41.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Bolangir and Jharsuguda at 40.2 degrees Celsius each. The city of Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius.
