Kochi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in seven districts of Kerala on Thursday. The districts under alert include Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram. Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Sunday. No warnings have been issued for Friday and Saturday.
Rainfall on Wednesday
Some parts of the state received significant rainfall on Wednesday. Urumi in Kozhikode recorded 12 cm of rainfall until 5:30 pm, while other areas received 3 cm or less.
Thunderstorm Warning
The IMD has also warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on Thursday.
