A tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh's Theog area claimed one life and left 18 others injured when a truck carrying a band party skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge late on Monday night. The incident occurred near Theog town on the Shimla-Rampur highway, approximately 25 kilometers from Shimla.
Details of the accident
According to district administration officials, the truck was carrying 24 persons associated with a band party, along with a mare, from Chandigarh to Kotkhai. The vehicle was on its way to a wedding function when the driver lost control on a sharp curve, causing the truck to veer off the road and fall into a 50-meter-deep gorge.
Local residents and police immediately launched a rescue operation. The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Theog and later referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla for advanced treatment. The deceased has been identified as a 30-year-old man from the band party.

Senior district officials, including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Theog, reached the spot to supervise rescue efforts. The police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that brake failure may have led to the tragedy.
