The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall for the districts of Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur on Thursday. The alert indicates the likelihood of extremely heavy precipitation, which may lead to waterlogging, landslides, and disruption of normal life in these regions.
Orange and Yellow Alerts for Various Districts
On Friday, the orange alert will be in effect for Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, and Malappuram on Thursday, cautioning residents about heavy rainfall that could cause localized flooding and traffic disruptions.
On Friday, the yellow alert will cover Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Thrissur. Moving into the weekend, on Saturday, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod will be under a yellow alert. On Sunday, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Palakkad will remain on yellow warning.
No Warnings for Other Districts
No weather warning has been issued for the remaining districts of Kerala during this period. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow updates from local authorities.
