Dr Rajeshwar Chandel, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University in Gujarat. The Gujarat government issued the appointment orders on July 1, 2026.

Dr Chandel served as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar University from May 2022 to May 2026. During his four-year tenure, he oversaw academic and research activities at the horticulture and forestry university in Himachal Pradesh.
Previous Roles and Expertise
Before taking charge at Nauni, Dr Chandel served as the Executive Director of the Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana for the Government of Himachal Pradesh. He brings over 25 years of experience in education and research to his new role.
A noted entomologist, Dr Chandel has held several key positions at Dr YS Parmar University, including Joint Director, Senior Scientist, Researcher, Entomologist, and Principal Residue Analyst. He hails from Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh.
