Ruby Sharma, a woman from Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband and burying his body beneath the bathroom floor of their home. The police confirmed the arrest on Friday and stated that they are interrogating her to uncover the motive behind the crime.
Discovery of the Crime
The incident came to light when neighbors reported a foul smell emanating from the Sharma residence in a village near Lucknow. Upon investigation, police discovered the partially decomposed body buried under a freshly laid concrete floor in the bathroom. Ruby Sharma initially claimed her husband had gone missing, but forensic evidence linked her to the murder.
Police Investigation
According to a senior police officer, the accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. “We are trying to ascertain the motive. The body has been sent for postmortem, and further details will emerge after the autopsy report,” the officer said. The couple had been married for over a decade and had two children, who are now in the care of relatives.
Community Shocked
Local residents expressed shock at the incident, describing the couple as seemingly normal. “We never imagined something like this could happen. They appeared to be a happy family,” said a neighbor. Police have not ruled out domestic disputes as a possible cause, but no formal statement has been made.
Legal Proceedings
Ruby Sharma has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder and destruction of evidence. She will be produced before a local court on Saturday for remand. The police are also examining if any other individuals were involved in the crime.
