Six-year-old swept away in Erode floodwaters, search on

A six-year-old boy was swept away by floodwaters in a stream near Thalavadi in Erode district on Sunday evening. Search operations were ongoing on Monday for the Class II student, identified as Madhan Karthik, son of Rangaraj of Diginarai village.

Incident Details

Following heavy rainfall in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, the stream in Diginarai village was overflowing on Sunday evening. Karthik went to see the floodwaters after informing his parents but did not return home. His parents and relatives searched for him near the stream but could not find him. It later emerged that the boy had been swept away by the floodwaters.

Search Operations

The family informed the Thalavadi police, who rushed to the spot and joined the search efforts. Later, fire and rescue services personnel from Hasanur also arrived at the scene and assisted in the search.
