A tragic incident occurred in Rajur village, Gadag district, on Friday evening when a 19-year-old teenager lost his life due to a lightning strike. The deceased has been identified as Prashant Sharanappa Huded, a resident of Rajur.
Brother's Narrow Escape
According to family sources, Prashant and his elder brother had gone to graze cattle on the outskirts of the village. While they were tending to the animals, Prashant was struck by lightning. His brother, who was nearby, narrowly escaped the strike. In a harrowing turn of events, the brother carried Prashant's body home on his shoulder.
Police Investigation
The Gajendragad police visited the spot after being informed about the incident. They registered a case and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Lightning strikes are common during the pre-monsoon and monsoon seasons in Karnataka. Authorities have repeatedly advised people to take precautions during thunderstorms, such as staying indoors and avoiding open fields.
