Key Outcomes of the Summit

1. Green Technology and Renewable Energy
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in renewable energy, particularly in wind and solar power. India and Nordic countries will collaborate on research and development of green hydrogen, energy storage, and grid integration technologies.
2. Climate Change and Environment
A joint action plan on climate change was adopted, focusing on reducing emissions, promoting sustainable consumption, and protecting biodiversity. The leaders committed to the Paris Agreement and called for ambitious climate action.
3. Digitalization and Innovation
Partnerships in digital health, smart cities, and fintech were strengthened. The Nordic countries expressed interest in India's digital public infrastructure, including Aadhaar and UPI, for potential collaboration.
4. Trade and Investment
Efforts to boost bilateral trade and investment were discussed, with a focus on removing trade barriers and promoting ease of doing business. A joint business council was announced to facilitate private sector engagement.
5. Arctic Cooperation
India and Nordic nations agreed to deepen cooperation in the Arctic region, focusing on scientific research, sustainable development, and maritime cooperation. India's Arctic policy was welcomed.
6. Health and Pharmaceuticals
Collaboration in healthcare, including vaccine production, telemedicine, and pharmaceuticals, was emphasized. India's role as a global pharmacy was recognized, and joint initiatives in health security were discussed.
7. Education and Research
Academic exchanges and joint research programs will be expanded, particularly in science, technology, and sustainable development. Scholarships and student mobility programs were encouraged.
8. Strategic and Security Cooperation
The leaders discussed regional security issues, including maritime security in the Indo-Pacific. They agreed to enhance defense cooperation and counterterrorism efforts.
Strategic Significance
The summit marked a milestone in India-Nordic relations, highlighting shared values of democracy, rule of law, and multilateralism.
