Ahmedabad Prepares for Census 2027 with Massive Staff Training Drive
Ahmedabad Gears Up for Census 2027 with Staff Training

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Census 2027, with the first phase of enumeration set to begin on June 1. According to a Gujarat government notification issued on May 5, the initial phase—comprising house listing and building enumeration—will be conducted from June 1 to 30. This month-long exercise aims to cover every household and structure within the city limits.

Massive Deployment of Personnel

To execute this operation, the AMC's City Census Department has appointed nearly 12,000 enumerators and 2,000 supervisors across the city's 48 wards. Officials confirmed that personnel have been drawn from central and state government offices, semi-government institutions, schools, and colleges located in Ahmedabad. Each ward will have designated charge officers overseeing the enumerators and supervisors.

Training Drive Underway

Before field operations commence, the civic body has launched an extensive training drive to familiarize staff with census procedures, documentation, and data collection protocols. Training sessions are currently being conducted at schools and community halls across all 48 wards. AMC officials stated that the entire training process is expected to conclude by May 21. So far, around 7,500 personnel have already undergone training.

Strict Compliance Measures

Officials warned that employees assigned census duties must attend training sessions and comply with deployment orders. Any absence from training or negligence in census work could invite disciplinary proceedings, including the filing of FIRs under Section 11 of the Census Act. The AMC is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and accurate enumeration process for Census 2027.
