Md Monir Hossain, a transport supervisor at the Daulatdia ferry ghat, witnessed the event, stating, "Right before our eyes, the bus fell into the river, but we could do nothing." He noted that while some passengers managed to escape, many remained trapped as the vehicle sank.
Initial reports indicate that 11 passengers were able to swim to safety following the plunge. However, the death toll rose as two women were recovered and declared dead upon arrival at the Daulatdia Upazila Health Complex. Maruf Hasan, a doctor at the facility, confirmed their deaths and mentioned that another woman, a doctor from Square Hospital in Dhaka, survived and received treatment at the complex.
