Prayagraj: A tragic incident occurred on Sunday when a 16-year-old boy, identified as Nilesh, a resident of Gauspur village, is feared to have drowned in the Ganga River at Ujihini Ghat. The location falls under the jurisdiction of the Sandipan Ghat police station in Kaushambi district.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the boy had gone to the riverbank for goat grazing along with his friends. During this time, he decided to enter the river for a swim. However, he ventured into a deeper zone and is suspected to have drowned. His friends raised an alarm, alerting locals who then informed the authorities.
Search Operation Underway
Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Sandipan Ghat police station, along with skilled swimmers and personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), rushed to the spot. A comprehensive search operation was launched immediately to locate the missing boy. As of the latest reports, the body has not yet been recovered.
The police have registered a case and are continuing their efforts to trace the boy. The incident has caused grief and concern in the local community, highlighting the dangers of swimming in unfamiliar or deep waters.
