Chennai to get light to moderate rain with thunderstorms today
Chennai rain likely today with thunderstorms, says IMD

Chennai: Parts of the city and its suburbs are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a partly cloudy sky with daytime temperatures hovering around 35-36 degrees Celsius and a night temperature of about 27 degrees Celsius.

Statewide Forecast

Across Tamil Nadu, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall at a few places, along with thunderstorms over the next few days. This is attributed to the well-marked low-pressure area that has weakened into a low-pressure area and persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over the districts of Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, and Madurai.

Saturday's Weather

On Saturday, the weather in Chennai was warm and sultry. The Nungambakkam observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, while Meenambakkam recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius. These readings were about 2.4 degrees and 1.9 degrees below the normal levels, respectively.
