The 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, was discharged from Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi on Friday morning, June 12, following a successful left knee replacement surgery, as confirmed by an official statement.

The medical update regarding the 90-year-old Nobel Peace laureate's health was shared on his official X account.

The hospital management emphasized a collaborative approach between its staff and the leader's personal representatives to ensure seamless care. 'Throughout his treatment, His Holiness's personal medical team and the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama remained in close coordination with the administrative and medical staff at Apollo Hospitals,' Dr. Malhotra stated.

Following a period of monitoring, the senior consultant confirmed that the spiritual leader met all health parameters required for discharge, showing positive signs of recuperation. 'His Holiness is stable and expected to make a full recovery. He was discharged on Friday morning, 12 June,' Dr. Malhotra added.

The medical team expressed deep appreciation for overseeing the healthcare of the Nobel Peace laureate. 'It has been a great honor for the hospital and the medical team to serve His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We are grateful for the trust and confidence placed in us and privileged to have been able to contribute to His Holiness's care,' Dr. Malhotra said.

This successful surgery follows a similar procedure in June 2024, when the Dalai Lama underwent right knee replacement surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, from which he made an excellent recovery.
