Fadnavis Orders Strict NEET Re-exam Monitoring on June 21

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday ordered enhanced monitoring of examination centres in Pune and Latur for the NEET re-examination scheduled for June 21. These two cities were at the epicentre of the NEET paper leaks that led to the cancellation of the NEET 2026 exams.

Security Review Meeting

During a review meeting at his official residence, Varsha, Fadnavis directed all agencies to remain vigilant and take necessary measures at examination centres to prevent malpractices. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manisha Mhaiskar, DGP Sadanand Date, Principal Secretary CMO Lokesh Chandra, S Pardeshi, Commissioner of State Intelligence Department Shirish Jain, Secretary of Medical Education Department Dheeraj Kumar, Commissioner of Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell Dilip Sardesai, and Additional Chief Secretary of Higher and Technical Education B Venugopal Reddy.

  • CCTV Monitoring: Fadnavis instructed that CCTV systems at all examination centres be kept operational and monitored continuously.
  • Cybersecurity: Necessary preventive measures must be taken to ensure cybersecurity at all centres.
  • Identity Verification: Strict screening and identity verification processes for candidates are to be implemented at examination centres.
  • Social Media Management: Social media platforms should be used effectively to disseminate accurate information about the examination to students, parents, and citizens. Fadnavis emphasized that if any rumour or misleading information circulates, special care must be taken to avoid confusion among students and parents.

NTA Presentation

National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh presented an overview of the examination centres in Maharashtra, including their numbers, available facilities, security arrangements, and planning for the smooth conduct of the examination, as per a government press release.
