Gujarat Museums Attract Over 16 Lakh Visitors in 2 Years

The Gujarat government announced on Monday that museums across the state have attracted more than 16 lakh visitors over the past two years. With changing times, these museums have transformed from mere repositories of artworks into vibrant centres of knowledge through the integration of digital technology.

New Museums Established

An official statement revealed that in the last 12 years, five new museums have been established in Gujarat. These include Smritivan, which reflects the resilience of Kutch residents against earthquakes; Dandi Kutir, which brings Mahatma Gandhi's legacy to life; and the Vadnagar Experiential Museum, highlighting the cultural heritage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's hometown.

Adoption of Modern Technologies

The government stated that over the past decade, museums in the state have adopted modern technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), 3D projection mapping, holograms, and interactive touchscreens. These innovations enable the younger generation not only to see but also to experience their heritage firsthand.
