Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday stated that pilgrimages are instrumental in fostering societal unity and reconnecting the younger generation with the nation's cultural heritage and values. He emphasized that spiritual journeys not only reinforce faith but also invigorate individuals with renewed energy, awareness, and purpose.
Pilgrimage train flagged off under Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana
The chief minister addressed devotees at a function in Sirsa, where he flagged off a special pilgrimage train to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, under the 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana'. Over 800 pilgrims from various parts of Haryana boarded the train. Highlighting the importance of spiritual tourism, Saini reiterated the state government's commitment to ensuring that no devotee is deprived of pilgrimage due to financial limitations. 'Pilgrimages are a powerful medium of social harmony and cultural awakening. They help the younger generation reconnect with Indian traditions, spirituality, and heritage,' he said.
Chief Minister interacts with pilgrims and officials
During the event, the chief minister distributed railway tickets to six pilgrims and interacted with passengers and railway officials before the train's departure. He participated in the Ardas ceremony and extended his greetings to the devotees embarking on the journey. Referring to Sirsa's historical and spiritual significance in Sikh history, Saini noted that the city holds a sacred connection with Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He highlighted that Gurudwara Sri Chilla Sahib stands as a symbol of the Guru's visit to the region during his journey southward in 1706.
Upcoming pilgrimage train to Somnath Temple
Saini announced that another special pilgrimage train would be flagged off for Somnath Temple in Gujarat on June 8 under the same scheme. Earlier, special trains and buses were arranged for Ayodhya Dham and Prayagraj Kumbh. The chief minister stated that the state government provides financial assistance under various pilgrimage schemes, including Rs 50,000 for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and Rs 6,000 per pilgrim for visits to Hazur Sahib, Hemkund Sahib, Patna Sahib, and Nankana Sahib.
Several dignitaries, including former Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, former MP Sunita Duggal, and other political, religious, and social leaders, were present on the occasion.
