Bathinda: Heatwave conditions persisted in Punjab and Haryana on Monday, with maximum temperatures staying well above 40 degrees Celsius, averaging 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal in isolated pockets. Minimum night temperatures also remained 1.6 to 3.0 degrees Celsius above average across both states and Chandigarh. However, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to bring isolated to scattered rainfall between June 11 and 14.
Temperature Trends in Punjab
Compared to the previous day, Punjab saw its average maximum temperature rise by 0.9 degrees Celsius, which is 2.3 degrees Celsius above normal. Anandpur Sahib recorded the state's highest temperature at 44.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Bathinda at 44 degrees Celsius and Faridkot at 43 degrees Celsius.
Temperature Trends in Haryana
Haryana registered a 1.3 degrees Celsius jump in average maximum temperatures, sitting 1.8 degrees Celsius above normal. Rohtak was the hottest in the state at 45.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Hisar at 43.6 degrees Celsius.

Isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana will likely experience heatwave conditions till June 11. The upcoming Western Disturbance is anticipated to provide some respite from the scorching heat, with rainfall expected in scattered areas. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours.
