In a move aimed at boosting connectivity and tourism, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has announced the resumption of its Delhi-Leh bus service via Keylong, effective from May 26. The service will operate daily, with buses departing from Delhi's Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at 6:30 AM.
Route and Schedule Details
The bus will traverse through key towns including Manali, Keylong, and Sarchu before reaching Leh. The journey is expected to take approximately 24 hours, covering a distance of around 1,000 kilometers. HRTC officials confirmed that the service will run on a daily basis, providing a reliable and affordable travel option for passengers.
Booking and Fare Information
Tickets can be booked online through the HRTC website or at the ISBT counter. The fare has been set at INR 1,200 per person, which includes a meal break at designated points along the route. Passengers are advised to carry valid ID proof and warm clothing, as temperatures in the higher altitudes can drop significantly.
Significance for Tourism and Local Economy
The resumption of this service is expected to give a significant boost to tourism in the region, particularly for travelers heading to Leh-Ladakh. Local businesses in Keylong and Manali are likely to benefit from the increased footfall. HRTC has also assured that all safety protocols, including regular vehicle maintenance and driver rest periods, will be strictly followed.
Previous Suspension and Restoration
The service was suspended earlier this year due to adverse weather conditions and road maintenance issues. With the onset of summer, the roads have been cleared and deemed safe for travel. HRTC has urged passengers to stay updated on any changes to the schedule via its official website or helpline.
This initiative aligns with the state government's efforts to enhance public transport connectivity in remote areas and promote sustainable tourism. The Delhi-Leh bus service via Keylong is a popular choice among budget travelers and adventure enthusiasts alike.
