Indian Student Dies in Dubai Terrace Fall

Tragic End for a Young Photography Enthusiast in Dubai

A promising life was tragically cut short when Mohammed Mishal, a young photography enthusiast from Kozhikode, Kerala, died after falling from the terrace of a building in Deira, Dubai. The incident occurred on Friday, November 7, while he was attempting to capture close-up photographs of airplanes, underscoring the severe risks of accessing unsecured rooftops.

Details of the Fatal Accident

Mishal had been in Dubai for roughly two weeks on a visit visa and was staying with his cousins in the Hor Al Anz area. Driven by his passion for photography, he went to the third-floor terrace of a building to get better shots of aircraft from the nearby airport. According to accounts from eyewitnesses and family friends, tragedy struck when his leg became trapped between two pipes, causing him to lose his balance and fall.

He suffered severe internal injuries from the fall and was rushed immediately to Rashid Hospital. Despite all medical efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

A Life of Ambition Cut Short

Mishal was the only son of Muneer and Ayesha and is survived by his two younger sisters. He was a diploma student in civil engineering in Kozhikode and was described by his relatives as an ambitious and entrepreneurial young man. Reports indicate he was already exploring potential business ventures during his short stay in Dubai. His father runs a restaurant in their hometown.

Family friends and social workers assisting the family remembered Mishal as a talented and driven individual, whose future was abruptly ended.

Repatriation and a Sobering Warning

The formalities for repatriating Mishal's body to Kozhikode are nearly complete. The body is expected to be flown back to India for the final rites on Wednesday morning.

This heartbreaking incident marks the second time this year an Indian teenager has died in a similar fall in the UAE. In April, 17-year-old Alex Binoy, a student at Abu Dhabi Indian School, died after falling from his apartment balcony while waiting for his Grade 12 examination results.

Following this repeated tragedy, authorities in Dubai have once again issued stern warnings, urging residents and visitors to avoid accessing rooftops and unsecured terraces due to the significant safety hazards they present.
