Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a directive to restore internet access across the nation, marking a significant shift in the country's internet policy. The order, announced on Tuesday, aims to lift restrictions that have been in place for months, affecting millions of Iranians.
Background of Internet Restrictions
Since September 2022, Iran has imposed severe internet curbs during nationwide protests triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini. The restrictions included blocking popular platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and VPNs, severely limiting access to information and communication.
