Kanpur: Residents of the Kanpur division experienced continued relief from the heat for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. A north-easterly breeze sweeping through the city at speeds ranging from 9.9 to 29.8 kmph kept temperatures in check.
The city recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4 degrees Celsius, which was 0.6 degrees lower than Monday’s 30 degrees Celsius and significantly 10.4 degrees below the normal average. The minimum temperature settled at 22 degrees Celsius, about 2 degrees below normal, ensuring a comfortable night for residents.
Moderate winds also helped ease the impact of humidity. The maximum relative humidity was recorded at 78.81 percent. Although the forecast had indicated rainfall, the city did not receive any showers. However, persistent cloud cover throughout the day contributed to maintaining lower temperatures.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), weather conditions in Kanpur division on Wednesday are expected to feature mild sunshine with intermittent cloud cover. High humidity levels are likely to keep temperatures below average.
The IMD has further predicted the possibility of light rain accompanied by strong winds, dust storms, and isolated hailstorms across the region on May 6.
