The double-decker bus introduced by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department for the city's heritage sightseeing circuit, known as Lucknow Darshan, has been parked at a workshop for maintenance for more than 25 days, leaving tourists disappointed.
Launch and Initial Success
Launched on January 7 this year, the bus was introduced as a dedicated heritage tourism initiative to offer visitors a guided tour of prominent landmarks in the city. It quickly became a major attraction for tourists, drawing both locals and out-of-town visitors eager to explore Lucknow's rich history.
Heritage Destinations Covered
The bus covers key heritage destinations including Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, The Residency, UP Darshan Park, Hazratganj, Raj Bhavan, Gomti Riverfront, Chattar Manzil and Begum Hazrat Mahal Park. Each stop offers a glimpse into the city's architectural and cultural legacy.
Maintenance Issue and Official Statement
Ashish Kumar, managing director of Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, stated, “The bus is currently under maintenance because it met with an accident some time ago. The service is expected to resume within a week.” The statement has provided some hope, but the prolonged downtime has caused inconvenience.
Tourist Experiences
Rakesh Sharma, a visitor from Kanpur who arrived in Lucknow with his family this week, expressed his disappointment: “We had planned to take the bus tour during our summer break after hearing about it online, however, it was unavailable for online booking.” Many other tourists have shared similar sentiments, highlighting the need for timely maintenance and clear communication.
The Lucknow Darshan bus service remains a popular concept, and its swift restoration is eagerly awaited by heritage enthusiasts and travelers alike.
