Lucknow Metro to expand with 12 new corridors spanning 170 km

Lucknow is planning a significant expansion of its Metro rail network under the city's comprehensive mobility plan (CMP), prepared by Urban Mass Transit Company through the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. The proposed expansion aims to improve urban mobility and strengthen public transport connectivity across the state capital.

Key Proposed Corridors

According to the plan, 12 new metro corridors with a combined length of 170.37 km have been identified. Key proposed routes include Rajajipuram to IIM (18 km), CCS Airport to Kalli Paschim (15.5 km), Indira Nagar to CG City (11.5 km), CG City to SGPGI (9.8 km), and Vasantkunj to Kalli Paschim (34.8 km), the longest corridor in the proposal.

Track Details and Connectivity

Of the total network, 149.87 km is proposed as elevated track, while 20.5 km would run underground. The expansion also envisages extending Metro connectivity to areas such as Barabanki, Mohanlalganj, Jankipuram, and Musabagh.

UPMRC public relation office said detailed project reports will be prepared after the state government grants in-principle approval to the proposed corridors.
