Mizoram Police Seize 45.5 kg Methamphetamine Worth Rs 46 Crore

Police officials in Saitual district, which borders Manipur, have seized a total of 45.541 kilogrammes of methamphetamine tablets valued at over Rs 46.23 crore during the past two days, a senior state police official confirmed on Wednesday.

Details of the Seizures

The first consignment, weighing 10.118 kg (90,900 tablets), was recovered on Monday by Saitual district police personnel at Keifang town. The contraband was found concealed inside a car.

The second consignment, weighing 24.284 kg (2,02,000 tablets), was discovered hidden in another vehicle at Keifang town around 3 pm on Tuesday. Later that same day, at approximately 7:15 pm, a third consignment weighing 11.139 kg (1,01,000 tablets) was seized at the same location.

Arrests and Legal Action

Police arrested three individuals in connection with these seizures: Seiminlien Kholhou (27) from Muolnuom, Mahur, North Cachar Hills, Assam; Hrimsangliana (27) from North Tinghmun, Mizoram; and Hmangaihzuol Hmar (25) from Jirimukh, Jiribam, Imphal East, Manipur. They have been booked under Section 22(c)/25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at the Saitual Police Station.

The operation highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region, particularly along the border areas where such contraband often transits.
