Mumbai to Gadchiroli Expressway: Eknath Shinde Announces New Development Corridor
Mumbai-Gadchiroli Expressway Announced by Shinde

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday announced the construction of a new development expressway connecting Mumbai to Surjagad in Gadchiroli district. Speaking at a conclave in the city, Shinde emphasized that while Mumbai serves as the country's financial hub, remote areas like Gadchiroli possess abundant natural and industrial resources that need to be tapped for balanced regional growth.

Government's Vision for Inclusive Development

Shinde stated that the state government's focus is not limited to metropolitan cities alone but extends to rural, tribal, and backward regions. He highlighted several flagship projects that have already transformed the state's landscape. "The Samruddhi Highway, Metro Network, Navi Mumbai International Airport, Industrial Corridors, Steel Projects, and Skill Development Centres have given a major boost to employment generation in the state and have made the journey of development from Coast to Forest a reality in the last few years," he said.

Emotional Connection with Remote Communities

Recalling his tenure as the Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli, Shinde underscored the importance of building trust in Naxal-affected areas. "I tried to build trust by going to Naxal-affected areas and interacting with local citizens, tribal communities, and police. Festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Diwali were also celebrated with the soldiers in Gadchiroli. If you want to develop a remote area, it is necessary to have an emotional connection with the community there," he explained.

Comprehensive Development Plan for $1 Trillion Economy

Shinde asserted that the all-round development of Maharashtra is being achieved through industry, modern infrastructure, fast communication, skill development, housing, and eco-friendly projects. He expressed confidence that the state's economy will reach $1 trillion due to this comprehensive development plan. The new expressway is expected to further accelerate economic growth by improving connectivity between Mumbai and the underdeveloped Gadchiroli region, unlocking its potential for industrial and resource-based development.
