Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Gayathri V Raj has directed officials to prepare a contingency plan as a potential strike by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees threatens to disrupt public transport services in the region. The strike, which may begin soon, could severely impact commuters across Mysuru city and rural areas.
Details of Bus Operations Affected
The KSRTC city division operates a total of 534 buses with 517 schedules daily. In the rural division, 720 buses are operated with 691 schedules. Combined, over 1,200 buses serve the region, making alternative arrangements critical for public mobility.
Deputy Commissioner's Directive
During an emergency meeting held on 18 May 2026, the Deputy Commissioner instructed transport officials to formulate a Plan B to ensure minimal disruption to commuters. This includes coordinating with private bus operators, deploying additional state government vehicles, and exploring temporary shuttle services on key routes.
Officials have been asked to identify high-demand corridors and prioritize essential services, especially for students, healthcare workers, and daily wage earners. The district administration is also in talks with the KSRTC management to resolve the issues leading to the strike.
