Shillong: Meghalaya will host the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition (NEIINFRA Summit) at Mawkasiang in Shillong on June 15 and 16.

The Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) is set to organise the summit with the Meghalaya government as the host state and Build India — an organisation focused on promoting infrastructure development, innovation, and sustainable growth across India — as the co-organiser.

Union minister of roads and highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the summit. The event will be attended by officials from all the eight northeastern states — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura — along with representatives from eight Union ministries, said Sanjay Goyal, the chairman of the organising committee.

The summit will bring together over 800 delegates, 300 senior government officials, industry leaders, investors, infrastructure developers, public sector undertakings, entrepreneurs and development stakeholders from across the country.

“The summit is expected to be one of the largest infrastructure-focused gatherings in northeast India,” said Goyal, who is also commissioner and secretary of Meghalaya government.

“The event will serve as a premier platform for policy dialogue, investment promotion, business networking and knowledge exchange. There are three key pillars for the future of infrastructure — People, Prosperity and Planning, and Meghalaya proudly welcomes sector leaders. Together, let us build a stronger, more connected northeast India for a Viksit Bharat,” he said, highlighting the significance of the upcoming summit in driving economic growth in the northeast.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has invited several Union ministers and chief ministers from the northeastern states to attend the summit.

Knowledge partners for the summit include IIM Shillong, HVS Anarock and Invest India.
