The scheme offers remarkable flexibility, with both the visa and residency available for periods of one year, five years, or a maximum of ten years. The program is exceptionally family-friendly. Spouses and first-degree relatives are eligible for a Cultural Joining Visa or Residence, making it easier for professionals to relocate with their entire family. Applicants must remember to enter Oman within three months of the visa's issuance to validate the document.
Affordable Fee Structure and Eligibility Criteria
One of the most appealing aspects of the policy is its budget-conscious fee structure, designed to minimize financial barriers and signal that Oman values cultural contribution as a key investment. The fees are set at an annual rate, clearly differentiated for the main applicant and their family.
For the Main Applicant: The annual fee is 50 Omani Rials (RO), regardless of whether they choose a 1, 5, or 10-year validity.
For Joining Family Members: The annual fee is RO 10 for a one-year permit and RO 50 for five or ten-year permits.
Eligibility spans the entire cultural and academic spectrum, targeting writers, poets, performers, designers, researchers, musicians, and curators. A key requirement is securing a local sponsor; the visa is processed only upon the request of a recognized Omani cultural body, such as a government ministry, university, festival, or established cultural center, which confirms the applicant's legitimate purpose.
