PM Modi Emphasises Trust in Global Partnerships at G7

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the critical role of "trust" in forging international partnerships and reiterated India's dedication to sustainable and inclusive global development during the Outreach Session of the 52nd G7 Summit in Evian, France.

Trust and Solidarity in Global Cooperation

Speaking at the Outreach Session themed "Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity," PM Modi emphasized that global cooperation must transcend the traditional donor-recipient model, evolving into partnerships grounded in solidarity and equality. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared on X that the Prime Minister stressed the importance of trust in an increasingly interconnected world.

India's 'Humanity First' Approach

PM Modi highlighted India's "humanity first" philosophy, which has driven several international initiatives led by the country. These include the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, the Global Biofuel Alliance, Mission LiFe, and the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' campaign. He noted that India's approach to international engagement is rooted in the ancient principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' — the world is one family.

Participation at the G7 Summit

PM Modi arrived in Evian earlier Tuesday following an official invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. This marks India's 13th appearance at the G7 Summit as a partner nation and the seventh consecutive time the Prime Minister has attended the global forum. Before the Outreach Session, PM Modi and US President Donald Trump shared a brief interaction after the traditional family photograph. The two leaders shook hands, with Trump patting Modi on the arm. This was their first face-to-face meeting since Modi's visit to Washington in February 2025. They also sat side by side during the outreach session.

The family photograph captured PM Modi alongside key world leaders, including European Council President Antonio Costa, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Bilateral Meetings and Diplomatic Engagements

Beyond the collective sessions, PM Modi's itinerary includes high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. A highly anticipated bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump is scheduled for June 17, which the White House confirmed will focus on advancing the proposed India-US trade agreement.
