Sajjan Jindal Urges Graduates to Bridge India-China Economic Gap
Sajjan Jindal: Bridge India-China Economic Gap

Industrialist Sajjan Jindal, managing director of JSW Group, declared on Friday that India stands at "the most consequential moment in its modern history." Delivering the convocation address at the 16th ceremony of Ahmedabad University, he urged graduating students to help close the economic divide between India and China.

"India, despite having a population comparable to China, had a GDP that was roughly one-fifth of its neighbour's economy. Think about what that gap means. The scale of what needs to be built. That gap for me is the opportunity. It is an opportunity for the Class of 2026 to bridge that gap between India and China," Jindal said.

Calling India "not a market, but a mission," Jindal encouraged students to focus on work that strengthens the nation and urged them to become institution-builders. He emphasized the importance of resilience, ethics, and institution-building, advising students to "build boldly, build with integrity and build for India."
