A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Juna Sadulka village in Morbi district, Gujarat, where three individuals lost their lives after drowning in a farm pond. The deceased have been identified as Hatha Ratadia (28), his 11-year-old nephew Jaydev Ratadia, residents of Laxminagar, and Karu Vahera (31) of Dharmapur.
Details of the Incident
According to preliminary police investigation, the incident took place when a group of four herders were grazing sheep and goats in the area. Three of them reportedly entered the farm pond to wash their hands and feet and bathe. However, they accidentally ventured into deeper water and began drowning. The fourth herder, who remained on the bank, raised the alarm.
Rescue Operations
Upon receiving alerts, local residents and a fire brigade team rushed to the spot. After several hours of search and rescue operations, the bodies of all three victims were recovered from the pond. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further investigations.
This incident highlights the dangers of entering unsupervised water bodies, especially during the monsoon season when water levels can rise unexpectedly. Authorities have urged villagers to exercise caution near ponds and rivers.
